this is an ever-expanding collage web

and found objects. what is a web if not
something woven to 1. trap what gets caught
and 2. call home? part of me lives here.

how long have i been
collecting images
on the internet? collecting
personalities, projections,
versions and desires?
when does it stop being
a collection? when does it
enter the body?

if the wide web is a
world, a website is a
house full of rooms.
this is a room in the
house i grew up in.
i tried to take the
room with me but i had
to leave it there.

there were many houses
and rooms i entered
and i made an avatar
of myself in every one.
profiles, usernames,
semi-anonymity.
remaking the self
again and again.
is it a performance
or is it practicing
until i find what's real?
this page on this website
(this room in this house)
feels real but i can't
put my hand through
the screen to turn
the light on.

the world got bigger and smaller.
i found myself reflected back
in images, links, rooms, houses.
but i only became more real
when i walked through their doors.

virtual reality is still
a reality. what's real
comes in the creation
and the witnessing of it.

through your eyes it lives
and my avatar becomes realized.
i become realized. i went everywhere
the internet wanted to take me.
i left every door behind me open.
